2023년 8월 KIDDS 온라인 세미나 소식 알려드립니다.

이번에는 인공지능을 이용한 단백질 구조예측과 디자인 쪽에서 가장 활발히 연구하고 있다고 해도 과언이 아닌 하버드의 Sergey Ovchinnikov 교수님을 특별히 초청하였습니다.

해당 세미나는 본래 서울대학교 생명과학부에서 오프라인으로 진행할 계획이었으나, 다수 KIDDS 회원 분들께서 큰 관심이 있으셔서 KIDDS online 세미나로도 동시에 진행하게 되었습니다.

Title: The Interpretability of Protein Language Models for Protein Structure Prediction and Design

Abstract: Protein language models (PLMs) have emerged as fast alternatives to building multiple sequence alignments. But are they better? Are they learning about protein folding? For this talk, I'll go through the experiments we conducted in decomposing large PLMs to understand what they are learning and their limitations for the application of protein structure prediction and design. In conclusion, I'll show evidence that PLMs have learned a library of mini-Potts models of common interacting protein motifs, and provided a sequence to do a lookup of evolutionary statistics.
